Blocked Sewerage drains are a common problem that we deal with in the Ipswich Area
Blocked Sewerage drains can be frustrating and difficult to resolve however if your bathtub shower or sink is blocked there are a few things you can do yourself before calling Ipswich Plumber. Many suburbs in Ipswich have older pipes which could be rusted up or clogged with tree roots or other things.
The first thing is to remove any obstacles from in and around the plug hole i.e. food, hair and other blockages. This can be achieved manually and by using a suitable chemical cleaner or caustic soda. Be careful though some chemicals drain cleaners are not suitable for some type of plumbing fittings. For example chrome plug holes enamel sinks need chemicals that will not tarnish them. Also if you are using a grey water recycling plant you will not wish to use harsh chemicals.
If this does not clear your blocked sink or drain then a sink plunger will be required. Before ‘plunging’ cover the overflow pipe with a damp cloth and hold it there, in order to force the air to clear your blocked sewerage drain. Place the plunger cup over the plug hole, and plunge vigorously up and down for a minute or two. (Video of this process)
Should the plunging not clear your blocked drain or sink you will need a plumber to remove the trap under the sink. Ipswich Plumber will collect the water, which comes from the sink and clean out any mess from this unpleasant drain cleaning procedure.
